Happy Labor Day!

Laughing gulls, Larus atricilla, started flying south in August and they will be gone from the northeast by the end of September.  See you all next summer!

  1. I recently visited Manhattan and was surprised at the number of species of wildlife I noticed while walking. One night, I crossed paths with a rat who was scurrying down the street, keeping close to the curb. I thought that if there is not already a Field Guide to Manhattan Wildlife, someone surely should write one. I am delighted to find your blog.

    1. Hi Barb, Thank you. I am grateful for glimpses of city wildlife too. The book I wrote includes wildlife common in most cities and suburbs across the United States. Best regards, Julie
